The enterprise was led by an Iowa-born crusader by the name of David Eugene Olson, who was “enthralled with the prospect of (the college) being directly across from the growing University of Minnesota, with its 8000 students, 55 buildings, 150 faculty members and 155 acres teeming with immigrant students from all over the world.”
On May 2, 1915, a cornerstone with the inscription of the International Missionary Bible College Association was laid on the property. The building was of “modern” reinforced concrete, faced with Bedford stone and the halls were of marble. According to a passage in the history cited above, “the building was 100 feet square, three floors and an imposing dome.”

The Dinkydome, a University of Minnesota landmark and unique symbol in one of America’s iconic college neighborhoods, is in the process of a renovation that will restore the original character of the historic former home of the Minnesota Bible College.
Located on the corner of University and 15th avenues in the University of Minnesota’s Dinkytown neighborhood, the Dinkydome is adjacent to the Doran Companies’ exciting new student housing project, Sydney Hall.
When complete, the Dinkydome will have several commercial businesses at street level and housing on levels two and three. Businesses on the first floor will include a Wells Fargo Bank and a CVS pharmacy.
The Dinkydome Lofts are located on the second floor. These spectacular two-level, fully furnished lofts are available with up to four bedrooms and two baths. Some units have expansive views of the Minneapolis skyline and all units have spacious 10’ windows throughout.
The Dinkydome’s third story apartment units are also available in up to four bedrooms and many provide spectacular views of the Dinkytown neighborhood and the Minneapolis skyline.
The Dinkydome Lofts & Apartments are adjacent the Sydney Hall Residences where Dinkydome tenants will have access to underground parking, a party room and fitness center.
